Below is a quick summary of each week:
Week 1We learned each others names. We measured our velocity during several races in the hall. We learned about calculating velocity and acceleration.
For homework: Finish Week 1 packet up to Factor-Labeling Assignment.
Week 2We learned about Factor-Labeling Method (Dimensional Analysis) to convert units. We finished Week 1 packet (except the last side of the last page). In the Week 2 Packet, we did "It's All Downhill from Here!", the first two pages of notes labeled "Introduction to Acceleration." Students took their first weekly quiz.
For homework: Complete both sides of "Tracking Speed" and Kinematics Equations was an optional challenge assignment for students craving more difficulty. Also read Ch 2 in their textbooks and answer review questions 11-17 at the end of chapter 2.
Week 3We finished the Acceleration Notes and learned to apply d=1/2at^2 and t = sqrt (2d/a) on page 5 in Week 2 packet. The students did the Reaction Time Lab and Jump Around Lab in class (Week 2 packet). Mr. D several demonstrations of Newton's Laws and students took some notes.
For homework: Open your e-mail and sign up for our wiki at wetpaint. Follow directions in the e-mail and add a page with your name as the title. Read Chapters 4,5, and 6. Take notes about the reading on your new wiki page.
If you were absent, send Mr. Depies an e-mail to jdepies@maine207.org. I will send you an invitation to join our group and you can start taking your notes.
